CBD for arthritis pain: Benefits, use, and side effects
Cannabidiol reduces stress and anxiety
Although the research on CBD is in its early stages, it shows potential as an anxiolytic agent. The mechanism behind this action is not yet fully understood, but scientists have identified several possible targets. The endocannabinoid system is located throughout the central nervous system, and plays a key role in regulating physiological processes, including the immune system.
Among its anxiolytic effects, CBD has been reported to reduce anxiety-related behaviors in both healthy and unhealthy subjects. In a study of 72 adults, researchers evaluated the impact of CBD treatment. They reported that CBD reduced delayed stress effects and acute stress responses.
CBD-A appears to share most of the benefits of CBD
The antiviral effects of CBD on SARS-CoV-2 are due to its ability to reverse many of the induction of genes associated with chromatin modification, cytokines, and transcription. These processes are suppressed during the early stages of SARS-CoV- 2 infection.
The antiviral properties of CBD are mediated by its inhibition of interferon-stimulated gene 1a (IRE1a), a key regulator of the induction of cytokines and interferons. IRE1a is one of the earliest innate immune responses to pathogens, and is responsible for degradation of viral RNA.
CBD-A reduces epilepsy
Researchers think that CBD has the potential to reduce seizures in patients with treatment-resistant epilepsy. In addition, the CBD molecule appears to have a high affinity for 5-HT1A receptors. Moreover, it is believed that the T-Type Ca2+ channels could be responsible for the antiepileptic action of the molecule.
To evaluate the effect of CBD, a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial was conducted. Twenty-six patients aged one to seventeen years with Dravet syndrome or Lennox-Gastaut syndrome were administered Epidiolex CBD oral solution.
CBD-A is not a substitute for disease-modifying treatment for inflammatory arthritis
CBD-A products come in a variety of forms
CBD-A products are a wide range of cannabis products containing cannabidiol. This compound is the second-richest compound in the marijuana plant after THC. It can be found in various forms, including topicals, edibles, and inhalants. Although CBD is widely believed to have a range of health benefits, it's not yet known if the product is effective at treating SARS-CoV-2 infection.
As part of its innate immune system suppressant role, CBD has been shown to inhibit viral gene expression and protein processing by viral proteases. However, a more rigorous study is needed to assess the effect of CBD on SARS-CoV-2 infection.
Using mice, we evaluated the effects of a low dose of CBD (40 mg/kg) and a higher dose (800 mg/kg) on SARS-CoV-2 infection. CBD reduced viral titers by 40% and 4.8- fold in lungs and nasal turbinates, respectively.
